In one of the Alcohol Awareness Classes I took, I learned that alcohol was cunning, baffling, and powerful. At first, I didn't know what they meant, but as I kept having to go back their words began to sink in. I now know that my mind is often working against me. Even when I'm not aware of it, sometimes my mind is making decisions that leads me to drink. Often, I can't figure out how I ended up with the bottle in my hand even after my head has cleared a few days later. It really is a bit of black magic. What I'm glad about though, is that through these classes I can learn more about how I work as an alcoholic. And that's a term I'm more comfortable calling myself these days. I have a problem with alcohol. The biggest being my mind is cunning, baffling, and powerful when it comes to getting me to drink.
