My friends and I used to get high when we were in high school. We all went our separate ways and I thankfully got into a really good college despite my delinquent behavior. This past Winter break we reunited when I came home from school for a few weeks. It was like I never left. They were still hanging out at the same places, doing the same things, only they seemed to have upped the level of drugs and alcohol. I was really worried about my oldest and best friend in particular. He's working retail and still living at home and seemed depressed. I could tell he needed someone to talk to so I invited him over and we hung out in my parent's basement. I told him that I thought he was getting too involved with the amount of drugs he was taking and I actually registered on my laptop for an online drug class. At first he laughed at me and told me I was being insane, but as we started reading through the class, it began to get interesting. I don't think he really thought about what the drugs were doing to his health. He came over two more times after that and we finished up an 8 hour alcohol and drug awareness class. I think it shocked him out of his bad habits. He called me at school last week and sounded really good. I can't believe how responsible I've become!
