With 12 hour level 2 alcohol awareness classes you can really start to gain an appreciation for the dangers of booze. I know I did. You may not realize these dangers when you are drinking either because you just don't think it will happen to you or you are not aware them. What I do know, however, is that after these classes I started to see things a bit differently. I stopped looking at my drinking as a harmless way to blow off steam on the weekends. I mean, unless you consider Wednesday - Sunday the weekend, my drinking was obviously way out of control. I took a look around me and came to the conclusion that no one else I knew drank as often as I did, so my behavior was not normal. Anyway, with a bit of education and some sorely needed honesty and introspection I figured out that my drinking couldn't continue. Recovery is going to be a process, but I know that as long as I remain vigilant in educating myself I stand a better chance of staying on the wagon.
